The Train Driver End-point assessment at Railway Competence Group is of the highest quality, and as an Ofqual regulated endpoint assessment organisation (EPAO), we are approved to assess the train driver apprenticeship standard.
There are three main elements to the Train Driver apprenticeship End-Point assessment – Observation, Online test and Professional discussion. The Observational assessment is split into three assessments. Planned, Degraded and Emergency Observation. The assessment will be held online using Microsoft Teams and Testinvite. The apprentice will receive confirmation of their EPA date from their employer and they will receive a Microsoft Teams invite at least seven days prior to their End-point assessment.

Train Drivers operate trains safely, punctually, and economically across various routes, adhering to railway regulations. They may work in environments like high speed, passenger, freight, and more, handling tasks from transporting goods to maintaining infrastructure. Drivers often work alone, requiring high concentration and the ability to make quick decisions under various conditions, such as severe weather or emergencies. Must meet the medical standards set by the Train Driving Licences and Certificates Regulations 2010. Minimum age for apprenticeship is 18.
This is a Level 3 apprenticeship.
