About the occupation
What does a Passenger Transport Operations Manager do?
Every day millions of people use the transport network to get to work, to see friends and family or to go on holiday. Passenger transport service managers are essential to the safe and efficient operation of this network.
They make a difference by overseeing the daily operation of the station or depot, ensuring business objectives are met and customers are able to travel safely, on time and in comfort from the beginning to the end of their chosen journey. A career in passenger transport services allows you to follow a profession in Rail, Bus, Coach and Tram.
A passenger transport services operations manager is required to have a detailed understanding of the operational transport service, its targets and obligations, the relevant transport infrastructure and its assets. Their role may involve financial and budget responsibilities, day-to-day operational management of a passenger transport environment, compliance and quality checks and people management.
Assessment details
How the end-point assessment works
- 01
Gateway
Once the apprentice has completed their on-programme training, the employer and training provider confirm they are ready and submit the gateway evidence to us.
- 02
Planning
We agree assessment dates, locations and any reasonable adjustments with the employer, provider and apprentice.
- 03
End-point assessment
An independent RCG assessor carries out each assessment method set out in the assessment plan.
- 04
Grading and certification
Results are quality assured and confirmed, and we request the apprenticeship certificate on the apprentice's behalf. Certificates are now digital: apprentices can view, download and share theirs on GOV.UK using their unique learner number (ULN) and our Ofqual number, RN6118.
The exact assessment methods and grading criteria are set out in the assessment plan on Skills England.
